They say good things take time and with that the club is pleased to announce that we have our coaching group for 2023.

Head coach of the premiers Chris Smylie will be supported by Villi Maafu, Alan Nicholas, Andrew Slight, Eddie Cooney, Darren Hughes and Greg Melvin.

Our 21s are back with a new coach to our fold Matt Howling. Matt is not new to the club having played and captained our premiers and more recently been coaching KBHS, taking them to Auckland Secondary Champions in 2022.

Our 85s will be looking at going one better this year and will be coached by Rob Cooney. Rob will be supported by Janko Mendjan, who has coached our juniors and 21s over the years and also up at MHS.

Andrew is an ex-player with Massey Rugby Club in the late 1990’s and has played representative rugby for the Marlborough Union during 1998 and 1999. Andrew has been recently coaching with the Air Forces and Armed forces teams.

Api has been previously involved in coaching the Premier reserves and 7’s side at Massey.

Jim O’Brien has coached at the club in the late 1990’s with the club’s Premier side.
